What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness enables us to train and rewire our minds and attention.

This in turn provides greater awareness and control over our thoughts and actions.

It reduces our inclination towards instant or conditioned reactions

to situations we find ourselves in.  As a result we can become

more positive and we can bring enhanced clarity to our analysis

and decision making.

When practised effectively, it increases our general well-being and

creates a feeling of greater calm.

THE PRINCIPLES OF MINDFULNESS

ONE...

Mindfulness allows us to be alive in the present moment,

without worrying and harassing ourselves over past events

or being anxious and troubled by events that are in the future

and indeed may never take place.

TWO...

It enables us to recognise what is happening in our world right now;

with all the properties the present moment possesses,

both good and bad.

THREE...

We can accept the moment for what it is and become fully aware

of the difficulties that are present

or the joy that the moment holds.

FOUR...

By being aware in this way we can choose more effectively

how to react to the difficulties

or how to appreciate the moment (or situation) more fully.
